Got everything packed the night before and my steed Wildfire is ready to go! I even cleaned the chain 🙂 Ridgeline: See you in a few weeks!
I left the house about 6:45 a.m. and started meandering the streets of Fort Worth. My google map had the routes but with my eyesite and wearing a helmet, I had to stop many a time to put on my reading glasses. Even then there were routing questions to the point of turning on google maps with audio prompts. That actually REALLY helped. I was just worried about using too much battery on my cell phone. As it turned out the phone had enough juice.
Today’s route took me thru the streets of Fort Worth, Everman, Rendon, Mansfield, Midlothian and finally Waxahachie. The route after Rendon was simply beautiful with rural roads and very little traffic.
This image is for Lynne … as we love the idea of barnaminiums!
The down side of the route was having to travel 287 … wow the noise! Next time I’ll put on ear buds to dampen the noise and add some decent sounds. The shoulders of 287, while wide, had a lot of debris. The only special thing I saw is in the photo below. It needs no words.
I finally got to the cut off of 287 to Business 287 … much better. Had to navigate thru some construction where there was no shoulder but all in all it was uneventful to the hotel. I will say the last 5-10 miles were very hard on my body and my legs were feeling pre-cramp. Lucky that didn’t happen.
I got to my hotel room about 1pm just in time for my 1:15 zoom meeting at work. Wifi worked well. Following the meeting Tommy and I had to fix a few production ftp issues. It was at this point I realized how hungry I was as I had only a granola bar all day.
PIZZA! It was a short 2 mile ride which was easy without the 60lbs of gear. I order a large alfrado chicken with mushrooms! Eat 1/2 there and brought the other 1/2 to the room for dinner tonight. Nice to have a microwave.
After a hot bath, nap, I’m able to compose this blog. I notice I didn’t take enough photos … will do better tomorrow. Tomorrow concerns be a bit as it is a 60 mile ride to Mexia. I know I should not have planned such long legs of my journey so early but logistically there was not a better route.
Till tomorrow! Here are my runkeeper stats;
